Transactional Analysis Counsellor
Counsellor for adults, couples and neurodivergent relationships in Colchester
I’m Eleanor Carbutt, a counsellor based in Colchester, offering both in-person and online support.
In addition to my core training I have specialist training to work with couples from The Berne Institute and to work with individuals and couples with ADHD and Autism from Aspire Autism Consultancy.
My journey into counselling began with a lifelong curiosity about people and a deep desire to understand what shapes our thoughts, emotions and relationships. After experiencing my own life challenges, I discovered Transactional Analysis and found it so transformative that I decided to train professionally to support others in creating meaningful change in their lives.
With warmth and a down-to-earth approach, I support individuals and couples facing a range of challenges, from anxiety and low self-esteem to relationship difficulties and loss. I believe counselling should feel like a safe and supportive conversation—somewhere you can explore what’s really going on for you, free from judgment.
Alongside my counselling work, I have a background in TV production, hospitality and yoga teaching. These experiences have given me a broad perspective and a deep appreciation for the different paths we all take. No matter where you are in your life, I’m here to listen, support and help you move forwards.

How I Work
My style is warm, informal and down-to-earth.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. We can start with what's happening for you now and gradually make sense of what may be getting in the way.
I use Transactional Analysis alongside my experience working with adults, couples and neurodivergent clients. My role isn't to tell you what to do, it is to help you understand yourself, your relationships and your choices more clearly.
